Over coffee we will enjoy a welcome chat about natural living and the dangers of commercially produced household products. We will then explore the benefits of natural ingredients and essential oils, discussing how they can be combined to release their natural powers.
The workshop will then be yours and we will spend the first half of the session learning how to make cold process soap including:
- The history and chemistry behind cold process soap making
- Equipment needed and where to get it
- Safety measures required
- Which oils, butters and waxes can be used and the benefits each can offer
- How to blend essential oils
- What moulds can be used
- Using botanicals from your own garden to decorate/colour your soaps naturally
- How to treat and store your soap once it’s made
- Advanced techniques such as ‘swirling’ or using goat’s milk
- Troubleshooting
- How to make a shampoo bar
The last half of the session will be spent learning how to make an aromatherapy candle and reed diffuser.
The beauty of the private workshops is that we can cater to your own specific needs and explore areas that particularly interest you. Please do let us know of any allergies or vegan preferences at the time of booking.
You will leave the studio with:
- One reusable soap-making mould filled with soap ready to be cut and cured at home (approx 8 large bars
- A personal workshop folder
- A 200g bag of natural soap off-cuts ready to be used straight away
A candle and a Reed Diffuser
You will also be able to ask Sophie any questions you may have over the course of your soap making journey.
Workshops can be tapered to individual need and preferences, including making shampoo bars and milk soaps.
Please bring an apron and wear long sleeved clothes (with shoes rather than open-toe sandals) you don’t mind getting a little mucky in. We would also be very grateful if you could let us know of any allergies beforehand. Please could you also bring your own hand towel.
If you have a particular product in mind which you would like to make then please let us know beforehand and we will do our best to include in during the course.
